STAINLESS STEEL RINGS

HAVE A QUESTION?
FORGED STAINLESS STEEL ROLLED RINGS
At Ringmasters, we're available to help pinpoint the best stainless steel grade for your end-use application. Utilizing the Scot Forge team of knowledgeable forge engineers, metallurgists and technical sales, we will work closely with you and your team to ensure all requirements are met or exceeded.
Ringmasters specializes in forging of custom seamless rolled rings from martensitic, austenitic, and precipitation-hardening stainless steels. Each type has unique characteristics beneficial to specific applications.
Martensitic Stainless Steel
Martensitic stainless steel is used for applications where high strength is needed in hot or corrosive environments. It's strengthened through quench and tempering heat treatment. Corrosion resistance of these materials is generally less than that of the other types. Its strength, hardness and wear resistance, however, can be much higher depending on the composition and heat treatment cycles used. Martensitic grades are commonly used for rolled rings when the application requires high hardness and wear resistance in corrosive environments, such as bearings.
Austenitic Stainless Steel
Austenitic stainless steel is ideal for highly corrosive environments or when high toughness or ductility is needed. It’s also beneficial for applications facing very low temperatures and magnetic permeability. Austenitic steels are an excellent rolled ring option when non-ferrous options are too expensive.
PH Stainless Steel
Precipitation hardening (PH) stainless steels is recommended for applications requiring extremely high strength and fracture toughness in hot and corrosive environments. It can be solution annealed, machined in a soft state, and then aged to increase strength. PH steel grades are used for rolled rings when martensitic stainless can't handle the application or when extremely high dimensional tolerances are needed on parts machined prior to heat treatment.
